Common Pediatric Dental Procedures FAQ

How often should my child visit the dentist?

Most children should visit the dentist every six months for routine exams and cleanings. Regular visits help prevent cavities, monitor growth and development, and identify concerns early before they become more serious.

Yes. Pediatric dental X-rays use very low levels of radiation and are an important part of diagnosing concerns that cannot be seen during a visual exam alone. We use modern digital imaging and protective shielding to minimize exposure while ensuring accurate care.

Baby teeth play an important role in chewing, speech development, jaw growth, and guiding permanent teeth into proper position. Healthy baby teeth help support healthy permanent teeth and overall oral development.

During a cleaning, we gently remove plaque and buildup, polish the teeth, evaluate oral health, and monitor growth and development. We also spend time teaching children proper brushing and flossing techniques in a positive, encouraging way.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Early evaluations allow us to monitor jaw growth, bite development, and spacing concerns before they become more complex.

Our team uses child-friendly communication, gentle behavior guidance, and positive reinforcement to help children feel safe and comfortable during visits. We focus on building trust and creating positive dental experiences that support lifelong oral health habits.

If your child experiences a tooth injury, swelling, severe pain, or a knocked-out tooth, contact our office as soon as possible. Quick action can often improve treatment outcomes and reduce complications.
